The Village has just switched over to SWIFT911 as our emergency notification system in an effort to reduce expenses.

The Village is requesting every resident and business, even if you have already done so in the past, to visit the Village’s website at (www.freeportny.com) to update your information from the SWIFT911 button on the bottom of the homepage. All information will be kept strictly confidential. The Emergency Management Office is using this system for notification of pending or existing emergency situations. The system will only call the geographic area in the Village needing the notification. The Village may also be sending out friendly reminders to residents living in low-lying areas when there are astronomical high tides during full moons. Other potential uses involve Village agencies calling the public for water or sewage shut-offs, snow emergencies, upcoming construction and detours, hydrant flushing, missing children, Alzheimer's patients, crime alerts, etc.

The SWIFT911 Notification System is built to identify a select group of phone numbers, call the number, and play an emergency notification message in any language. Residents can change which language by updating their info in Swift911 by logging into the portal on the Villages Website.

If a resident or business does not wish to be notified in an emergency, they can request that their phone number be removed from the database by calling 516-377-2188.

We are also looking for an emergency contact in the event of a problem at your residence or business and you are not at that location. The emergency contact should have a key to the location and know any alarm codes. Residents are requested to fill out the online Resident Survey form located under the General Information tab. This is the quickest way for residents to change their information on file.
